Nice little article about the insecurities and fears that transgender people often struggle with but are afraid to talk about...
On October 1, 2015, the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) communicated to stakeholders its intent to cover the cost of post-operative care provided at the aftercare facility, L’Asclépiade, for eligible patients going to Montreal for gender-affirming lower surgeries through Dr. Brassard’s clinic.
Individuals who have paid for aftercare from L’Asclépiade since October 1, 2015, should contact a Community Health Liaison at the VCH Transgender Health Information Program to discuss their eligibility and the process for reimbursement for this care. Going forward, the charges related to post-operative care provided at the aftercare facility, L’Asclépiade, will no longer be an out-of-pocket expense for eligible patients.
For any new client booking with Montreal, as of today (November 18, 2015) they should no longer have to make a payment for aftercare.
Those who have already booked now through early January will be in a reimbursement scenario and should connect with the VCH Transgender Health Information Program.
